27 April

The weather was close to perfect, with no clouds and 15°C (1:34 PM), however weak to moderate yet cool winds coming from the north pushed some species to Zone I in particular.

A. levana (f. prosa), P. malvae and, just like last year, a single P. brassicae have made their first appearances, whereas G. rhamni is making a return after an odd absence lasting nearly a full month. The amount of A. io has decreased sharply. Meanwhile, I seem to be encountering the same male P. nymphula over and over again at the very same spot; no females have been spotted, so far.

This field trip also may mark the last one not just for this month but for the rest of this season under my current observation scheme. Starting in May, my schedule will make some (hopefully very) slight shifts due to my new job and I will need to figure out how to properly adjust my monitoring routine to it. I'm sure it will work out but I haven't even gotten any news since they received my contract and my first work day is supposed to be on the 6th. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
